Marking the meeting point of the Bridgewater and Rochdale canals is Rochdale's former lock 92. This symbolic spot lends its name to this website and is your starting point to discovering northern England's rich and fascinating canal heritage.
Tim noakes (Spey/PFCS) (27/10/01 23:37:27) Never mind saw. With Mac and the rest of the PFCS crew we actually worked a couple up the nine. Dow you remember the first incarnation of those dratted restaurant boats at Princess st? We Actually worked them up to Picadilly.
(24/04/01 23:15:18) Try asking Ian McCarthy off 'Spey', or any of the Peak Forest Canal Soc people who worked on the Rochdale 9 in the 1970s, and had a store under the Rodwell Tower. I'm sure they'll have seen a wide beam barge or flat going up here. (Or try Roger Lorenz at Worsley)
Richard Pinchbeck (28/03/01 13:27:26) Yes, my narrow boat, Sorbus, September 1995.
Mike Fletcher (12/31/00 05:18:43 PM) Has anybody ever actually seen a barge passing through this lock?
